Sustainability IndexUSAID - Enabling Market Integration through Rural Group Empowerment (EMIRGE)
What is the Sustainability Index?
The Sustainability Index is a tool that civil society organizations can use to measure and improve their ability to manage and implement projects and deliver services to achieve long-term sustainability in a timely and transparent manner. The Sustainability Index also allows donors to assess the impact of capacity-building investments and signals when organizations are ready to receive direct funding. Information gathered through the use of the tool may also be of interest to local and national government organizations, academic institutions, and others. The Sustainability Index analyzes and assigns scores to six interrelated categories: organizational capacity; financial viability; policy engagement; quality of service provision; infrastructure; and public image. Use of the Sustainability Index will demonstrate the strength and overall viability of civil society organizations. The Sustainability Index highlights both advances and setbacks in the development of the civil society organizations towards sustainability. |
